Most recently, she served as the Director and Curator of the Horseman Foundation in Saint Louis, Missouri, where she developed a collection of more than 400 paintings and sculptures from artists historically omitted from the canon of 20th century art. This collection included seminal works by Jaune Quick-to-See Smith, Norman Lewis, Alma Thomas, Kay WalkingStick, Howardena Pindell, and George Morrison.

During her tenure at the Columbus Museum of Art, Kinigopoulo co-organized and contributed to several nationally acclaimed exhibitions. She received the 2020 AAMC Award for Excellence for her work on the touring exhibition Art After Stonewall, 1969-1989, which was named one of the decade’s top ten exhibitions by ArtNews. Other notable projects include Subversion and Surrealism in the Art of Honore Sharrer; Open Borders: Pueblo Painting and Modernism in the American High Desert, 1920-1937; and I Too Sing America: The Harlem Renaissance at 100, the catalogue for which received the James A. Porter and David C. Driskell Book Award for African American Art History.

“I’m delighted to join the team of the Currier Museum of Art at this exciting moment for the institution and look forward to continuing its legacy as a vital New England institution,” Kinigopoulo says. “The museum’s outstanding collections—from exceptional pieces by artists like Sam Gilliam, Faig Ahmed, Eric Aho, and Joan Mitchell to its rich holdings of decorative arts—offer countless opportunities to develop projects that inspire local communities and are a beacon to audiences well beyond the region.”
