LOS ANGELES, CA.- Julien’s Auctions announced their partnership with one of the most recognized action sports figures in the world, TONY HAWK. Together, they are unveiling a collection of important artifacts of skateboarding history and bringing them to this year's X Games in Salt Lake City, June 27-29.

Highlights of the items to be sold in “Tony Hawk: The 900 Collection” have just been announced. The sale will take place on September 23 live from Los Angeles and online at juliensauctions.com

Widely revered as the pioneer of modern vertical skateboarding, Tony Hawk cemented his place in sports history when he landed the first documented “900” — a trick involving two-and-a-half mid-air revolutions on a skateboard. After several failed attempts, Hawk landed it in front of a roaring X Games crowd. “This is the best day of my life,” Hawk said.

Much like Muhammad Ali’s first heavyweight title, Serena Williams’ 23rd Grand Slam, or Michael Jordan’s game-winning shot in ’98, Hawk’s “900” wasn’t just a milestone — it was a redefining moment for the sport. It elevated skateboarding into the global spotlight and established Hawk not only as a legend in his field, but as one of the most transformative athletes in the history of modern sports.

“Landing a “900” at the 1999 X Games was a huge moment in my career — the result of years of persistence and getting back up after every fall. I never imagined that my board, pads or helmet from that day would be of any interest to collectors,”said Hawk. “I'm honored to partner with Julien's Auctions on The 900 Collection, which will be on public display for the first time this weekend at the X Games. A portion of the proceeds from the sale will benefit The Skatepark Project, the foundation I started to help communities build safe and inclusive skateparks in underserved areas, where young people can experience the same freedom and confidence that skateboarding offered me.”

The “900” board on offer is the original Birdhouse “Falcon 2” skateboard, outfitted with Fury brand trucks and unmarked wheels, famously ridden by Tony Hawk during his historic performance at the 1999 X Games in San Francisco—when he landed the first-ever successful 900 aerial trick. This singular artifact, estimated to fetch between $500,000 and $700,000, stands among the most coveted treasures in sports history. Its significance is on par with Michael Jordan’s rookie shoes or the Wilson Hammer racket Serena Williams used to capture her first Grand Slam title, making it an unparalleled piece for collectors seeking items that define legendary moments in athletic achievement.

Among the extraordinary rarities in the “Tony Hawk: The 900 Collection” auction are a pair of black and orange Adio “Tony Hawk” model sneakers (size 13), along with the exact knee pads and helmet he wore while executing the groundbreaking “900” aerial trick—items that are virtually irreplaceable given their direct association with this iconic moment in skateboarding history. These treasures offer collectors a rare, authenticated piece of skateboarding legend. Such artifacts are exceedingly scarce, making this collection a priceless snapshot of a pivotal moment in extreme sports.

Tony Hawk is one of the most influential professional skateboarders of all time and continues to inspire generations of athletes and fans through his business ventures, philanthropy, and ongoing presence and advocacy of skate culture.

Julien’s preview of “Tony Hawk: The 900 Collection” celebrating the anniversary of this historic milestone in skateboarding presents a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for the public to view these extraordinary items before their historic sale. The exhibit is on view now through Sunday, June 29 at the Club ’95 Lounge in the Grand Ballroom at Utah State Fairpark.

The highly anticipated collection featuring nearly 100 Skate Culture and Pro Sports artifacts is set to make history when they hit the arena at Julien’s “Tony Hawk: The 900 Collection” auction taking place September 23 live from Los Angeles at 10am PT and online at juliensauctions.com. Keep an eye on this space for upcoming announcements and complete auction line up.
