VIENNA.- The Vienna Design Week announced this year’s Festival Headquarters: the impressive workshop premises and showrooms of a former car dealership at Wiedner Hauptstraße 52 in Vienna’s 4th district. As the main venue for one of the most significant curated design events in Europe, the Vienna Design Week’s Festival Headquarters takes on great importance. In addition to the carefully selected exhibitions, installations, and events that can be experienced here from September 26 to October 5, 2025, the Vienna Design Week with this architecturally remarkable interim use once again creates the opportunity to take a closer look at the special features of Vienna’s urban history and development – with free admission, a lot of personality, and a high quality of stay.

Where one could once take a break in the »Zur grünen Weintraube« restaurant garden on the southern access road into the city, a workshop planned by the architects Löschner & Helmer was built in the 1950s. Nobody less than poet and architecture critic Friedrich Achleitner praised »the light and bold construction of the bright hall« and recognized in it »something of the future-oriented zeitgeist of the late 1950s.« Special thanks go to JP Immobilien for providing the location.

The Vienna Design Week 2025 takes place from September 26 to October 5.

The Vienna Design Week is one of the most significant design events in Europe. In 2025, the curated festival with an international focus and appeal will take place from September 26 to October 5 and, with specially commissioned projects in various festival formats, will once again offer a cultural perspective on design at its 19th edition. The program put together by festival director Gabriel Roland and his team traditionally focuses on more than just the design of products. In exhibitions, interventions, workshops, talks, tours, and much more, contributions from areas such as social design, crafts, the circular economy, art, and architecture illustrate the essential role that the work of designers plays in living together in the city and around the world. The festival is structured into several curated formats as well as associated outreach programs, talks, and site-specific emphases. Another important part of the program are the contributions created by external partners. Over ten days in the fall, the Vienna Design Week expects around 40,000 visitors at roughly 200 events at 50 locations scattered throughout the City Full of Design. The festival is open to everyone – admission is mostly free!
