DALLAS, TX.- The only copy that ever will exist of an extraordinary card featuring images, NBA uniform logos from and signatures from two of the greatest players of all time will take its shot at the record for a basketball card when it is sold in Heritage’s Summer Platinum Night Sports Auction August 23-24.

The 2007-08 Upper Deck Exquisite Collection Dual Logoman Autographs Michael Jordan & Kobe Bryant #DL-KM Signed PSA EX-MT 6 - #’d 1/1 is headed to public auction for the first time and has a chance to fare as well or better than the top basketball cards ever sold. A 2009 Panini National Treasures Logoman Steph Curry 1/1 sold for $5.9 million in a private sale, and the auction record for a basketball card is $3.12 million for a 2018 Panini National Treasures Logoman Luka Dončić 1/1.

“The demand for this card is astronomical, which makes sense, because it has everything, including photos, jersey patches and signatures from two of the greatest players who ever stepped on the court,” says Chris Ivy, Heritage’s Director of Sports Auctions. “The Dual Logoman card offered in this auction is the only example created that includes only Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant — making it the most sought-after example of the incredible Upper Deck Logoman series, and because of Kobe Bryant’s tragic death in 2020, it always will be the only one.

An undeniably unique lot that will be offered in the auction is a Massive 1994-98 United Center Original Game Used Court Section that is signed by Jordan … with five inscriptions. Measuring 8 by 8 feet, this extraordinary keepsake is part of the floor used when Jordan returned to the team after his first retirement and helped the team embark on its second run of three consecutive NBA championships. Teams are required by the NBA to replace their court flooring at least every 10 years; photo-matching experts at PSA have matched this court in its current state to photography from the 2001-02 season through the 2005-06 campaign, after which it was replaced. More than a decade after it was removed from service, the consignor arranged to have Jordan sign it.

Not only did the NBA legend inscribe his enormous — 32 inches! — signature, but he underscored his autograph with details rarely if ever added to others: “Air Jordan, 5x MVP, 6x Finals MVP, 10x Scoring Title, HOF 2009.”

Jordan is the most collectible athlete in basketball history, and among the most popular among collectors among athletes in all sports. He is represented in the auction in 76 lots. Offered here are MJ cards, including a 1986 Fleer Michael Jordan Rookie #57 SGC Pristine Gold Label 10 that is the only SGC Pristine Gold 10 specimen out of more than 4,000 submissions, a 1984 Michael Jordan NBA Debut Chicago Sun-Times News Photograph, PSA/DNA Type 1 from his first NBA game, a 1995 Game-Used & Signed Bat, PSA/DNA GU 10, a 1990-91 Game-Issued & Signed Chicago Bulls Jersey, a pair of 1984 Game-Worn Los Angeles Olympics Game Worn USA Basketball Sneakers and even a pair of lots, each with a ticket stub from his NBA debut in 1984 against the Washington Bullets.

A jersey worn by Mickey Mantle during one of the finest seasons in the Hall of Famer’s legendary career will land in a new collection when a 1960 Mickey Mantle Game Worn & Signed New York Yankees Jersey, MEARS/Grob A9.5 -- Multiple Photo Matches Including 1960 All-Star Game crosses the auction block for the first time. The season year ended with Mantle finishing second to teammate Roger Maris in the American League MVP voting, after a season in which he clubbed 40 home runs, scored 119 runs and collected 294 total bases. Two all-star games were played that season, and Mantle started in center field in both. This jersey has been photo-matched by MeiGray and Sports Investors to games that included the first of the two all-star games, which was played at Municipal Stadium in Kansas City, as well as other games against the Baltimore Orioles, Cleveland Indians, Dertoit Tigers and Kansas City Athletics.

Mantle always is among the most popular athletes in any auction, and that certainly holds true in this auction, in which he is featured in nearly 100 lots, including one of just four examples of a 1969 Topps Mickey Mantle (Last Name In White) #500 PSA Mint 9 (only one graded higher), the higher-graded among just two known examples of a Signed 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle #311 PSA EX+ 5.5 Auto 8, a 1951 Mickey Mantle Original News Photograph Used for 1951 Bowman Rookie Card, PSA/DNA Type 1 that depicts one of the hobby’s most iconic images and a 1951 Bowman Mickey Mantle Rookie #253 PSA NM-MT 8 from the season in which he made his Major League debut.

Before teams started handing out rings to players after winning a championship, they issued watches to their players. Offered in this auction is the magnificent 1923 New York Yankees World Championship Watch presented to Babe Ruth that has been called the most significant article of the team’s world championship memorabilia in existence and was given by The Babe to his close friend, Charlie Schwefel. Ruth kept the watch for a quarter of a century, but when the cancer that eventually cost him his life progressed, Ruth asked his friend if he wanted anything from his collection. Schwefel asked for this watch. As noted in a signed letter of provenance from Schwefel’s nephew Lewis Fern, Schwefel kept the watch for just two years before his wife gave it to Fern with the comment that “This should have been yours all along.” Fern kept it for decades until it was privately sold into one of the world’s finest sports collections in 1988.

Renowned as arguably the greatest hitter in the history of baseball, Ruth also is featured prominently in the auction as a pitcher on a 1916 Herpolsheimer Co. Babe Ruth Rookie #151 PSA NM 7. Before he began launching home runs for the Yankees, Ruth was a gifted pitcher for the rival Boston Red Sox. Any Ruth card automatically has major interest from the collecting community; the demand for this card gets, originally from Sporting News, gets a boost from the fact that it carries the exceedingly rare advertising for Herpolsheimer’s department store in Grand Rapids, Mich., on the back. As many as 200 cards are missing from the population of this regional issue, in which just five cards feature Ruth.

In addition to the championship watch and the 1916 Herpolsheimer card, the Sultan of Swat is featured on the highest-graded example of a 1917 D350-2 Standard Biscuit Babe Ruth #147 SGC EX-NM 6, the only uncancelled example in the PSA population of a 1916 Morehouse Baking Babe Ruth Rookie #151 PSA Poor 1 and a 1927 New York Yankees Team Signed Photograph on which he is one of 45 to add his autograph to the most comprehensive known item commemorating the team that has been called the greatest ever assembled in the history of the game.

A 1961 Fleer Wilt Chamberlain Rookie #8 PSA Gem Mint 10 features one of the most dominant big men in basketball history in his third season, but the card carries a “rookie” designation because it comes from the first basketball issue during his Hall of Fame career. A full 52 years after his last game, the four-time MVP is the only player in league history to score 100 points in a single game and still holds numerous NBA records, including scoring 50 or more points 118 times, 60 or more 32 times and 23,924 rebounds — including 55 in a single game.

One lot that likely will never be recreated is a 1967-2021 Super Bowl MVP Signed PSA-Graded Full Ticket Run of 55, a museum-caliber trove of unused, original, full tickets from football’s championship game. What makes the lot even more remarkable is that each ticket is signed by the Most Valuable Player from those games, from the understated autograph of Green Bay quarterback Bart Starr on the first ticket to New England’s Tom Brady on the 2021 ticket. Among the other NFL legends whose signatures are included: Joe Namath, Roger Staubach, Franco Harris, Terry Bradshaw, Joe Montana, Doug Williams, Jerry Rice, Joe Montana and John Elway.

Collectors of Olympic sports have the opportunity to acquire any of a trio of lots from the man who completely revolutionized the high jump event: Dick Fosbury, who eschewed the traditional forward dive or scissor-style jump in favor of a corkscrew motion in which he twisted his body during his approach to the bar, a technique that earned him a gold medal and world record in the 1968 Summer Olympics in Mexico City. Offered in this auction are the 1968 Mexico City Summer Olympics High Jump Gold Medal Awarded to Dick Fosbury that is widely considered the most important high jump artifact in existence, his photo-matched Team USA Singlet and Fosbury’s 1968 Mexico City Summer Olympics Participation Medal.

“The innovative jumping style that now carries my husband’s name (Fosbury Flop) celebrates not only his athletic ability, but also his passion for the sport and brilliant problem-solving approach to be the best high jumper he could become,” says his widow, Robin Tomasi. “Growing up, Dick prided himself on being an unconventional thinker. He graduated Oregon State University with a degree in civil engineering while successfully adopting a technique, an innovation that was one of the most significant in the history of track and field and revolutionized the sport forever.”

Collectors will have a chance to take their shot at one of the most iconic basketball cards in the hobby: a 1948 Bowman George Mikan Rookie #69 PSA Mint 9. Mikan was considered “the Father of the Big Men,” a 6-foot-10 giant who was so dominant that the NBA adjusted its rules — adding goaltending, and widening the lane and the shot clock — to address the imbalance. This ultra-rare card is one of just four copies, only one of which carries a higher grade.

Many collectors are drawn to the first of any kind of collectible, an approach that shines a bright spotlight on a 1939-40 Mickey Mantle's Personal Elementary School Class Photograph with Earliest Known Mantle Autograph from The Steven Lane Collection, which includes 14 lots in the auction. The picture is like so many other class photos, an image of 36 young students posing with a teacher, but this one is exceptional for two reasons: this is the copy once owned by Mantle himself, and he wrote on the back, where he identified all subjects in the photo, including himself — making this the first known autograph from the future Hall of Famer.

Among the unique items in the auction: 18 lockers and a locker room carpet from the Los Angeles Lakers. Used at various times between the 2018-19 and 2024-25 seasons, the lockers include those used by LeBron James, Luka Dončić, Austin Reaves, Bronny James and Dalton Knecht. Each of the lockers presented in this auction stood in the team’s STAPLES Center Dressing Room since a renovation prior to LeBron James’ free-agent arrival for the 2018-19 NBA season, through the 2024-25 NBA season. LeBron James used his locker when he reached several notable milestones, when he became the second-oldest player in league history to win NBA Finals Most Valuable Player honors, when he registered his 100th triple-double and when he passed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar to become the leading scorer in NBA history.

Jerseys, of course, are among the most popular of all sports collectibles, and this magnificent event is brimming with threads worn by some of the greatest athletes of all time. In addition to the 1960 Mantle, this event includes jersey from the likes of Mel Ott (1940 — photo-matched), Ted Williams, Roberto Clemente, Aaron Judge, LeBron James, Luka Dončić (from his 14th NBA game) and Pete Rose, among many others.

Another must-have jersey in the auction is a photo-matched 1977 gamer from Dan Fouts, the legendary San Diego Chargers quarterbackwho steered the Bolts’ infamous “Air Coryell” offense over, around and through NFL defenses for 15 seasons on his way to his 1993 enshrinement in the NFL Hall of Fame. The jersey is just one of 35 lots in the auction from Fouts, whose collection in the auction also includes a Mid-1980s Game-Worn San Diego Chargers Helmet, jerseys he wore with the Chargers, at the University of Oregon and at St. Ignatius College Prep, game-used footballs and assorted awards.

Fouts’ mementos are not the only assemblages featured in the auction, which also boasts a trove of keepsakes from one of the most popular of professional wrestlers: Randy “Macho Man” Savage. Among the must-have items for wrestling collectors are a 1990s Worn Jacket & Outfit Used in Slim Jim Promotion Photo Matched to Four Commercials, the earliest known (circa 1985) match-used robe from his collection and a photo-matched 1997 NWO Ring-Worn and Signed Outfit with Bandana.

The Savage Collection is not the only source of wrestling treasures in this auction, which also includes the likes of a 1982 Wrestling All-Stars Series A PSA Graded Complete Set (36) that ranks No. 4 on the PSA Set Registry and includes cards celebrating stars like Andre the Giant, the Junkyard Dog and Hulk Hogan, and the fourth-ranked 1982 Wrestling All Stars Series "B" PSA Graded Complete Set (36) that features the likes of Sergeant Slaughter, Jesse Ventura and Kerry Von Erich.
