GLEN COVE, NY.- Roland Auctions NY hosted its mid-summer Multi-Estates auction on July 26th, 2025, with Contemporary Art once again taking the lead, along with several fine jewelry pieces from a prominent Long Island collection. Alexander Calder once again came in as the highest seller of the day at Roland, with three unique After Alexander Calder Bicentennial Tapestries joining a selection of several Frederick Stuart Church paintings, from a highly impressive NYC private collection, also selling well in the Art arena.

An After Alexander Calder (American, 1898-1976), Le Sphere et les Spirals (The Sphere and the Spirals), Aubusson, France, Pinton Frères from The Bicentennial Tapestries, woven wool. [41" H x 58" W] woven signature to lower right, Calder and PF, woven number to verso '32' (32/150), with fabric manufacturer's labels to reverse d'après un carton de Calder H: 105 L: 150 PF CA Tapisserie d'Aubusson Pinton and The Bicentennial Tapestries, a limited edition designed by Alexander Calder and woven at Aubusson, France in celebration of the American Revolution Bicentennial Alexander Calder 1975. Sold for $29,250, while an After Alexander Calder (American, 1898-1976), Bicentennial Tapestry, Les Palmiers (The Palms), Aubousson, France, Pinton Frères from The Bicentennial Tapestries, woven wool. [Sight: 39.5" H x 58" W, Frame: 49.5" H x 67" W] woven signature to lower center ‘Calder’and PF, limited edition designed by Alexander Calder and woven at Aubusson, France in celebration of the American Revolution Bicentennial © Alexander Calder 1975’. Overall condition is good, slightly faded, and with organic imperfections, this tapestry has been glued down and therefore details of addition number and manufacturer's labels to reverse are not readable. Note all of the Calder tapestry come from a private collection and it is believed that this is also an edition number of 32. Additional Contemporary Art included a very good showing by artist Frederick Stuart Church, with several pieces in the sale. A Frederick Stuart Church (American, 1842-1923), "A Twilight Cloud" 1893, oil on canvas in a gilt frame, possibly depicting Athena, dated and signed F.S. Church, NY, copyright, to lower right, and a plaque with "A Twilight Cloud" and "F.S Church N.A" inscribed. [Framed: 25.5" H x 41" W; work: 17" H x 32.5" W]. From a New York City Collection. Sold for $9,100 and a Frederick Stuart Church (American, 1842-1923), "The Dancing Bear" Oil on Canvas, 1914, oil on canvas in a gilt frame, dated and signed F.D Church, NY, to lower right; sold at the Sotheby's Arcade American 19th and 20th Century Paintings Auction on March 17, 1988, sale 1234, lot 74. Diamond Bracelet, Diamond flexible bracelet, set with 11 heart-shaped, 132 round brilliant-cut and 22 marquise-cut diamonds. Sold for $13,000.

In addition, a Steve Zaluski (American, b. 1952) "Red Hemisphere" Sculpture, painted aluminum figural sculpture. [75" H x 25" Diameter]. Condition is good with minor wear to paint. From the Estate of Ronald Blatt, owner of Blatt Billiards, in New York City. Sold for $7,150.


Lapis Lazuli, Turquoise and Diamond Pendant Brooch. Sold for $3900.

Aside from Art, the other most sought after items were in Silver and Fine Jewelry. A Towle Sterling Silver Flatware Service, 148, Towle sterling silver "Symphony" pattern flatware service, monogrammed, comprising 12 bouillon spoons, 12 demitasse spoons, 22 teaspoons, 6 cream soup spoons, 6 soup spoons, 12 grapefruit spoons, 5 serving pieces, 23 dinner forks, 6 luncheon forks, 6 dessert forks, 12 seafood forks, 14 flat butter spreaders, and 12 dinner knives, marks to reverse. [Total 121 ozt. excluding all knives]. Sold for $4,875.

A stunning Diamond Bracelet, Diamond flexible bracelet, set with 11 heart-shaped, 132 round brilliant-cut and 22 marquise-cut diamonds, total approximately 16.60 carats, mark to clasp 38797 BlCX, tests for platinum. [28.5 dwt., 7.5" L x .5" W] Sold for $13,000 and an Emerald, Diamond and 18K Gold Cocktail Ring, Cabochon emerald, designed as a cluster, set with 32 round brilliant-cut diamonds, total approximately 4.00 carats, and cabochon emerald approximately 16.3 x 11.1mm, marked interior mounting "18K" [size 7.5, 15.8 dwt.] Sold for $3900.

An exquisite Lapis Lazuli, Turquoise and Diamond Pendant Brooch, Lapis lazuli, Turquoise, diamond and 18K gold pendant brooch, set with 48 round brilliant-cut diamonds, total approximately 2.40 carats, bearing plaque "18K". [39 dwt., 2.5" H x 2.25" W] Sold for $3900, while the matching pair of Lapis Lazuli, Turquoise and Diamond Earrings, Pair of lapis lazuli, turquoise, diamond and 18K gold cluster earrings, set with 72 round brilliant-cut diamonds, total approximately 3.60 carats, bearing plaque "18K". [Total 24.9 dwt., 1.5" x 1.25"], also sold for $3900.

Modern furniture did well, with a pair of Ralph Lauren "Conservatory Garden" Armchairs, Ralph Lauren open armchairs, 21st century, with leather to upper and a wingback back rest, and a wool seat with carved arms and four carved cabriole legs, one chair with original Ralph Lauren Home label to base. [45" H x 24.25" W x 26" D; seat height: 22"], going for $7,150 and pair of Art Deco Mahogany Side Tables, second quarter of the 20th century, with scalloped flame mahogany tops over a single drawer, bentwood legs, a triangular base, and bun feet, with later removable beveled glass tops. [29" H x 17" W x 17.75" D]. Sold for $1690.
