COLD SPRING, NY.- Magazzino Italian Art presents two visionary installations by Piero Manzoni, alongside the work of Japanese glass artist Yoichi Ohira, celebrated for seamlessly merging the centuries-old traditions of Venetian glassmaking with the refined sensibilities of Japanese aesthetics.

Piero Manzoni: Total Space

Through the extraordinary generosity of Fondazione Piero Manzoni and Hauser & Wirth, Magazzino Italian Art has received the gift of two immersive environments conceived by Manzoni in 1961, at a date when conceptualism and installation art were only starting to appear on the art world’s horizon, marking a singular, conceptually driven contribution to the evolving language of installation art in Italy. Magazzino will unveil these exceptional gifts, accompanied by a contextual selection of works by Manzoni on loan from distinguished American collections.

Piero Manzoni: Total Space will remain on view at Magazzino Italian Art through March 23, 2026. Public programs presented in conjunction with the exhibition will be announced at a later date.

Yoichi Ohira: Japan in Murano

Yoichi Ohira: Japan in Murano, showcases the work of Yoichi Ohira (1946–2022), the Japanese-born artist who became a leading figure in designing Venetian glassworks on the island of Murano, Italy. His works—often vessels and sculptural forms—feature exquisite craftsmanship, rich colors, and intricate surface treatments inspired by nature, calligraphy, and Japanese lacquerware. By blending Murano’s technical mastery with refined, minimal sensibilities, Ohira created glass art that is both opulent and meditative. The exhibition will include approximately 60 works that showcase his masterful ability to blend Japanese influences with Italian traditions and his longstanding interest in abstracting from natural forms.
