The Turner Prize 2006 was awarded to Tomma Abts. The 5th edition of Art Basel Miami Beach opened. MoMA launched a New Series "Focus: Paul Klee". J. Paul Getty Museum announced it would return two objects to Greece. The Los Angeles County Museum of Art opened Magritte and Contemporary Art: The Treachery of Images. The Tacoma Art Museum opened Frida Kahlo: Images of an Icon.
