ZAGREB.- In 2026, the Museum of Contemporary Art Zagreb will present an ambitious exhibition programme grounded in interdisciplinary approaches and international collaborations, focusing on the exploration, interpretation, and reinterpretation of modernist and contemporary heritage. The programme places a strong emphasis on art, ecology, technology, and intermediality, as well as on timely, socially engaged, and critically oriented artistic practices.

The first half of the year is marked by the major international exhibition Bauhaus Ecology—Networks of Continuity, developed in collaboration with the Bauhaus Dessau Foundation and the Museum of Architecture and Design (MAO) in Ljubljana. The exhibition examines ecological perspectives within the Bauhaus movement, its historical impact, and contemporary practices that reassess the relationship between design, the environment, and society.

This is followed by the thematic exhibition Natura Po/Etica, which brings together interdisciplinary practices and research-based works to explore the connections between ecology, education, local communities, and museum infrastructures, while addressing questions of sustainability and contemporary ecological imagination.

On the international level, the exhibition Invitation—Museum of Contemporary Art, Zagreb at the MoMA in New York opened in March 2025 and will run until February 2028. The Nam June Paik Art Centre in Korea and the Museum of Contemporary Art Zagreb continue their collaboration initiated in 2023 with the Zagreb exhibition of Nam June Paik. In spring 2026, this partnership will be extended through a reciprocal visit, featuring Croatian contemporary artists in Seoul.

Alongside its major exhibitions, in 2026 the Museum will also present the fourth and final segment of its long-term collection display, Collection as a Verb. The Museum of Contemporary Art Zagreb will furthermore remain part of L’Internationale and its Museum of the Commons project, a network of approximately fifteen European institutions dedicated to contemporary art.
