PARIS.- The Board of Directors of the MEP announced the appointment of Julie Jones as the institution’s new Director.

A distinguished photography historian, Julie JONES recently served as a curator at the Photography Department of the Musée National d’Art Moderne – Centre Pompidou, where she oversaw several major exhibitions and initiatives to expand and showcase the collection. Her extensive knowledge of contemporary photography, her solid museum expertise and her international network are key assets that will guide the MEP into its next phase of development, ahead of its 30th-anniversary celebrations.

This appointment follows a thorough selection process involving all stakeholders, including the City of Paris, the MEP’s founding partner. The Board of Directors commends the exceptional quality of the applications received and the richness of the discussions throughout the process. The Mayor of Paris has welcomed this appointment and the exciting outlook it brings for the future of the MEP.

With the arrival of Julie Jones, the MEP is entering a new chapter and reaffirming its ambition to supporting emerging contemporary artists, strengthening the place of photography within the European and international cultural landscape, and welcome an ever broader and more diverse audience.

“I am delighted and honored by the trust placed in me to lead this pioneering and major institution dedicated to contemporary photography. The MEP is a vibrant meeting place for all those who engage with the image in its many forms, from enthusiasts to professionals. I look forward to joining the team and continuing to strenghten the institution’s presence in Paris while expanding its reach, both in France and internationally.” Julie JONES
