Tyffany & Co. Design Director to Speak at Cheekwood

NASHVILLE, TN.-In Tiffany’s Palm Beach, Tiffany & Co. Design Director John Loring opens the door to the private lives of those who reside in the legendary splendor of a sixteen-mile long, palm-fringed island hugging Florida’s East Coast. As a community partner of Tiffany & Co., Cheekwood will host Loring on September 7 at 4:30 p.m. in honor of his book.

The 336-page book, with 285 color illustrations, is an inclusive photo essay that takes readers beyond the hedges and stately facades and focuses on delightfully revealing details of Palm Beach life as it is lived by its most alluring residents. Loring chronicles the new golden age of this premier playground, showcasing the homes and interiors created by the great designers of the world. He also keenly observes current tastes and trends such as airy, orchid-filled interiors with Malaysian furniture, shells and coral in English lacquer cabinets and the ever-present images of the inhabitants’ much-adored dogs.

With his in-depth knowledge of America’s social history, Loring recounts all who have arrived in Palm Beach to find their “dream moment” in the sun by the vivid blue Atlantic. In showing the many ways the locals live this moment with exemplary grace, beauty and high spirits, Tiffany’s Palm Beach is an inspiring social document of life at the top, from which everyone can learn. After all, Loring says, “Only the perfect passes in Palm Beach.”

A graduate of Yale University, Loring has been the design director of Tiffany & Co. since 1979. In addition he writes on art and design and is the author of 17 previous books. He has an honorary Doctor of Fine Arts degree from Pratt Institute and lives in New York and West Palm Beach.

“It is an honor to be chosen as a community partner of Tiffany & Co. and we are delighted to host John Loring,” said Jack Becker, Ph.D., president of Cheekwood. “His presentation will provide that glimpse of a glamorous lifestyle that most of us dream about.” Reservations are available at $100 per person.
