ISTANBUL.-As a key supporter of young art, Siemens Sanat continues to present a distinguished platform for artists and art-lovers. Between the 5th of September and 20th October 2007, Siemens Sanat, will host the Istanbul leg of the "Georgian Season" project; a project which has been held in many capitals cities in the European Union.

The Georgian Government, as a part of its policy of supporting contemporary culture and art, aims to introduce Georgian culture and art, which were very much isolated under the old Soviet regime, to a Western audience through its annual project "Georgian Season".

As part of the "Georgian Season" project, which will be held in capital cities such as Paris, Berlin and London this year, and thanks to the contributions of Siemens Sanat, the exhibition "Atmosphere 41 Degree" will be coming to Turkey.

The exhibition takes its name from the 41st parallel on which cities such as Tbilisi, Istanbul, Rome, New York, Barcelona and Tirana are located on, and transforms this geographical fact into a cultural event.

"Atmosphere 41 Degree", curated by Beral Madra and Magda Guruli, takes the concept of 41st parallel as a starting point, and by referring to the comparison of the pre-Soviet era and nowadays the exhibition reveals the main trends of contemporary art in Georgia and the connections between these trends and contemporary trends in the international art scene.

"Atmosphere 41 Degree" contains paintings, photography, videos and installations by ten Georgian artists (Mamuka Japharidze, Ira Kurmaeva, Koka Ramishvili, Maka Razmadze, Maya Sumbadze, Oleg Timchenko, Niko Tsetskhladze , Guram Tsibakhashvili, Guela Tsuladze, and Ýliko Zautashvili) all of whom are well-known in the current international art world. The exhibition will be held in Siemens Sanat, at the same time as the 10th Istanbul Biennial, between the 5th September and 20th October.
