NEW YORK.-Opera great Renee Fleming, architect Richard Meier, Wikipedia Founder Jimmy Wales, artist Jeff Koons, and Iceland President Olafur Ragnar Grimsson were the recipients of the 2007 Louise T Blouin Award honoring exceptional creative and cultural achievement. The Award was presented at the Global Creative Leadership Summit in New York City on Sunday, September 23, 2007.

“All those honored have, in some way, made a leap of imagination that has redefined the parameters of their field,” said Louise T Blouin MacBain, the founder of the Louise T Blouin Foundation. “Some of the questions and problems they have sought to resolve are artistic or scientific. Some are economic or political, but all are relevant to how we live our daily lives within a global community and all are consummate examples of creativity in thought and action.”

For the third year, the Award was presented by the Louise T Blouin Foundation. Past winners include President Bill Clinton, artists Gregoy Colbert, Anish Kapoor, Richard Serra and Chuck Close, Nobel laureates Elie Wiesel, Eric Kandel and Richard Axel, and others.

The Louise T Blouin Foundation, founded in 2004 by Louise T. Blouin MacBain, promotes culture and creativity and their role in making societies stronger. Recent Foundation projects include an OECD research initiative measuring cultural investment across the globe and the development of a new Institute in Notting Hill, London. The Foundation has two main aims: (1) To encourage a better understanding of foreign affairs and culture beyond borders through international cooperation, exchange and dialogue for the 21st century; and (2) to explore the broader practical significance of creativity and the creative potential of the human brain.
