Galeria Blow de la Barra, Super Elegantes.

BOGOTA, COLOMBIA.- La Otra - (The Other) Contemporary Art Fair takes places October 18 - 23, 2007. La Otra/The Other is conceived to incite audacious artistic proposals, and motivate the general public and art collectors that are evermore in tune with contemporary art. La Otra, will be pioneer in Latin America by breaking the traditional model of art fairs, and become a space of interchange, diffusion and support for new artistic proposals.
Considering the vigorous artistic movement in Colombia as well as the continual emergence of cutting edge art collectors, we believe it is an appropriate time to launch this project. La Otra/The Other will help dynamize the contemporary art scene, while becoming a great stimulus for those artists and art spaces engaged in defying the conventional. It will be a constant concern to keep up with a fair that contributes as guide in the process of acquiring art works, beginning with a collection or strenghtening an existing one.
The space where the fair will be held is an industrial building from the 1950s, the former venue of an important editorial company. The building is located in the premises of La Macarena/Bosque Izquierdo neighborhoods, in the heart of the cultural and bohemian activity of Bogot. This event is leaded by Valenzuela Klenner Galera (www.vkgaleria.com) , one of the most relevant galleries of the contemporary Colombian art scene. The fair has a professional team that fully shares the challenge of opening this type of venue.
The first edition of the fair will be attended by an international group of galleries, such as Blow de la Barra (London), Die Ecke (Santiago de Chile), Proyectos Monclova (Mexico City); colombian galleries: Galera ArtRoom, Galeria Casas Riegner, Galera La Cometa, Cu4rto Nivel, Valenzuela Klenner Galera. Alternative spaces such as Perros Negros, Mexico City; Galera Chilena, Santiago de Chile; La Culpable, Lima; Espacio Temporal, Cali; Popular de Lujo y Perra Blanca, Tunja and Proyectos VK, Bogot. Also present at La Otra, will be the on site artist projects, a video program and an interesting forum focused on the theme of collecting and art work circulation with speakers from Colombia, Mxico and Argentina.
The work of artists of great international relevance will be shown including Carlos Amorales, Federico Herrera, Jos Alejandro Restrepo, Sper Elegantes, Vctor Robledo, Wilson Daz, Alejandra Prieto, Raimond Chaves, Luis Molina Pantn, among others.
In addition, contemporary art magazines, publications and book editors will also attend the fair.
