Sequences Art Festival in Reykjavík

REYKJAVIK, ICELAND.- SEQUENCES real-time art festival will be held in Reykjavík 12–21 October 2007. The festival, now in its second year, thrives on the unfiltered creative energy of artists in Iceland and their international network. SEQUENCES focuses on time-based art and links music and performance with the visual arts by means of video, vj-ing and other live events. The festival will take place in multiple venues within Reykjavík’s city center, accompanied by exhibitions and video/film nights.

Numerous artists participating this year range from some of the most respected Icelandic artists, including Magnús Pálsson, Steingrímur Eyfjörd and Ragna Róbertsdóttir to some of the best known contemporary artists like The Icelandic Love Corporation, Ragnar Kjartansson and up-and-coming artists Kolbeinn Hugi Höskuldsson and MoMs. Alongside these Icelandic artists, a wide range of foreign artists all working with time-based art, such as Doug Henderson (US) and Mader | Stublic | Wiermann (DE), will also be featured. Diverse venues include established institutions such as The National Gallery of Iceland as well as cutting-edge spaces like The Lost Horse gallery. Like last year, public spaces throughout the city will also be the sites of a number of activities.

As in 2006, SEQUENCES 2007will collaborate with the Iceland Airwaves Music Festival, Reykjavík’s hottest annual showcase of bands, DJs, and solo artists from Iceland and abroad. In addition to mutual promotion, SEQUENCES and Airwaves will work together in creating events/happenings and heightening the visual element in concerts and performances. Music and art cross borders as the city of Reykjavík will be more alive than ever during the month of October.
