COPENHAGEN.- This Spring, 24 young artists transform GL STRAND exhibition hall with challenging installations, light works, making use of the enchanted twilight and experimental painting, that leave their subjects vibrate between presence and absence.

According to tradition, EXIT presents the latest genres of contemporary art. The exhibition takes place for the 12th time at GL STRAND, and, by now, it has established itself as a major event in Copenhagen. EXIT is a living show case for the latest generation of young, Danish artists, who on this occasion for the first time exhibit their works to a large audience.

Three themes appear as significant through the diversity at EXIT 08: Memory, art as social conscience and the desire to break with art’s usual framework. Hence, in Stefan Pedersen’s work, we follow a group of students of psychology on a trip to China in 1972, while Katrine Dirckinck-Holmfeld’s poetic video reflects on hope and utopia in war-plagued Libanon. The themes are the subject of three talks that will be held during the exhibition.
