WICHITA, KS.- Contrasting two primary colorsyellow and blueand repeating a single, simple forma bisected circlewith only slight modification, painter Edna Andrade plays tricks with our eyes. She makes the canvas pulse and vibrate, and prompts us to think about optical effects and how we see things. Andrades painting, "Yellow Turn" (pictured at left), is just one of many artworks from the Ulrichs rich holdings of abstract art, works in which artists explore an idea, concept, or emotion through non-representational means. This summer we highlight a selection of these works, displaying paintings, prints, and sculpture.
