BILBAO.- The third exhibition that the Guggenheim Bilbao Museum presents under the Laboratories: Views on the permanent Collection initiative is dedicated to Valencian artist Miquel Navarro (b. Mislata 1945) and to his didactic work Tu mundo, tu ciudad, 2003 (Your world, your city) which forms part of the museum’s collection since 2003 and which was shown in public for the first time in 2004 in the context of an exhibition on his work Ciudad Muralla, 1995-2000.

The Laboratories initiative was inaugurated in 2007 with two exhibitions dedicated to Jesus Mari Lazkano (Bergara, 1980) and Koldobika Jauregi (Alkiza, 1959) and counts with the active collaboration of the same artists in its design and production. The objective of these presentations is to foster he diffusion and knowledge of modern and contemporary art, getting people to understand the creative process that form part of the permanent collection of the Guggenheim in Bilbao.

Miquel Navarro is one of the most important figures of Spanish contemporary art. When he was a child a train connected the town where he was born and where he still lives and works, Mislata, with the center of Valencia. The contrast in this rural landscape, splattered with orchards, modest industrial complexes and the great city, fascinated him since he was a boy and marked his path

This third didactic exhibition, which will take place between September 16 and will run through January 11, 2009, will allow the visitor to get an inner knowledge of the creative process of this artist through the presentation of his work of art Tu mundo, tu casa, 2003, a piece conceived by the artist with a strong educational intention in which the visitors can interact with the pieces that integrate the work of art.
