Mika Waltari and the Visual Arts Opens at Ateneum Art Museum |

HELSINKI.- In 2008 it will be 100 years since author Mika Waltari was born. Ateneum Art Museum celebrates the anniversary with an extensive exhibition presenting the author's relationship to the visual arts. Mika Waltari (19081979) wrote essays on artists in the 1940s, and was particularly interested in Finnish modern art. Waltari's own art collection featured several works by such artists as Yrjö Saarinen (18991958), Otto Mäkilä (19041955) and Aimo Kanerva (19091991). The exhibition is curated by Tuula Karjalainen.
The exhibition of Danish Golden Age art, Tales from Denmark is on show until 27 Jan 2008. The new collection display Larger than Life. Works from the Collections is on permanent view on the museum's third floor. Ateneum's main partners are Helsingin Sanomat, HOK-Elanto and KPMG.
