Plains Art Museum Announces All New Merchandising in Store

FARGO, ND.- Plains Art Museum has extensively re-merchandised its store, located on the main floor of the Museum. New store manager, Tonya Scott of Fargo, has a strong background in retail merchandising, including most recently as divisional merchandise manager with Vanity, a national retail chain with headquarters in Fargo. Scott has been working closely with new Museum director and CEO Colleen Sheehy researching and buying new merchandise, meeting artists who make one-of-a-kind items and visiting museum stores in the region.

Colleen Sheehy said, “As a store in an art museum, we want to offer our visitors an exciting, unique shopping experience. We are especially pleased to offer items made by artists, including regional artists. We have ceramics by Paul Ide, watercolor tiles by Carmen Bruhn, pottery by Susan Davy and hand-blown glass by Jon Offutt, all of Fargo. We have jewelry by Jeannine and Charles McKenzie and wallets and purses by Wanda Miller, all of Michigan. I am especially excited to offer framed and signed prints made in the Museum’s Hannaher’s, Inc. Print Studio, signed by artist Carl Oltvedt and poet Mark Vinz, both of Moorhead. If you haven’t been to our store in the last month, you will want to visit to see all the new items.”

In conjunction with its exhibition Art of the Guitar: A Luthier’s Renaissance which opens February 26, the Museum has designed special merchandise, including Art of the Guitar t-shirts, guitar picks, baseball caps and coffee mugs. A wide selection of books on guitar history and design along with Art of the Guitar, published by the Museum, which features images of guitars featured in the exhibition and essays by its curators.

The Store offers clothing items such as fargostuff.com Moscow-London-Paris-Fargo t-shirts, scarves and neckties. It also stocks candles, lotions, bird feeders, clocks, magnets, creative toys, games and art supplies for families, art catalogs, books and posters. Greeting cards and stationery supplies that feature local artists’ work, including that of photographers Wayne Gudmundson and John Borge are offered. Handbags such as those by gorilla sacks, zazou and Dogeared are also offered.
