Advance Tickets to Ateneum Picasso Exhibition Going on Sale

HELSINKI.- In mid-September, the Ateneum Art Museum will open an exhibition of Pablo Picasso's art, and advance tickets went on sale on Monday 16 March. The tickets are only available from the Finnish National Gallery web shop at www.shop.fng.fi. This advance sale of exhibition tickets is a pilot project for Ateneum, and tickets are at first available for October and November.

There are only normal-price tickets to the Picasso exhibition (à 16 €) sold in advance. Both normal and discount-price tickets are available as usual from the museum's ticket booth each day of the exhibition period.
"The exhibition has already met with great interest both in Finland and abroad. By selling tickets in advance we wish to speed up our visitors' entry to the exhibition", says Ateneum's museum director Maija Tanninen-Mattila.

All phases of Pablo Picasso's production are comprehensively presented in this exhibition featuring some two hundred works, all of them coming to Ateneum from the collections of the Musée National Picasso in Paris. After Ateneum, this exhibition will be seen in e.g. Hamburg. Helsinki is the only Scandinavian city hosting this Picasso exhibition.

Pablo Picasso exhibition opens in the Ateneum Art Museum 18 Sep 2009 and runs until January 2010.

The Picasso exhibition advance ticket in a nutshell:

* there are only normal-price tickets (à 16 €) sold in advance
* tickets are available from the web shop at www.shop.fng.fi
* tickets can't be reserved, and paid tickets can't be changed or returned
* tickets are at first available for October and November
* advance ticket entitles to entry at the chosen date and time, while the length of the visit is not limited
* there are 1,000 advance tickets on sale / weekday and 700 tickets / Saturday and Sunday
* discount-price tickets (à 14 €, e.g. students and pensioners) are only available from the museum's ticket booth for the day. Discount-price tickets can't be bought from the web shop.
* admission fee for children accompanying parents with advance tickets can be paid upon entry in the museum (7-18 years 5 €, younger children 0 €)
