MINNEAPOLIS, MN.- The Walker Art Center invites visitors to spend an evening with Todd Deutsch on Tuesday, May 5, from 7–8:30 pm as the photographer navigates a journey through his captivating portraits of family life and youth culture. In this lecture, Deutsch will provide a window onto his artistic process, and discuss the challenges and rewards of being both an artist and a father.
Deutsch’s photographs depicting family, young sons, and the culture of boyhood toys and games have been exhibited nationally and internationally, most recently at the Pingyao International Photo Festival in Pingyao, China, and the Minnesota Center for Photography in Minneapolis. Best known for Family Days, a yearlong photography series that began in 2003 which charts the increasing demands of an already bustling household, Deutsch is also the creative mind behind Gamers, a photo series on local computer-gaming teens absorbed in various types of virtual worlds.
The lecture, part of the Walker’s Raising Creative Kids Initiative, is appropriate for parents or caregivers with children of any age. Limited childcare is available during the event for kids ages 5 to 10.
