20 Year Survey Celebrates Queensland Fashion House

QUEENSLAND.- A twenty-year survey of Brisbane’s widelylauded fashion house Easton Pearson will be celebrated in an exhibition held at the Gallery of Modern Art (GoMA) from August 22 to November 8, 2009.

Queensland Art Gallery Director Tony Ellwood said ‘Easton Pearson’ would provide national audiences with a unique insight into one of Australia’s leading fashion labels.

‘The exhibition, developed by the Queensland Art Gallery, celebrates the Easton Pearson label which is renowned for its contemporary edgy glamour, exquisite embroidered and embellished fabrics, and gorgeous colours,’ he said.

‘Created by Pamela Easton and Lydia Pearson, over twenty years Easton Pearson has grown into a distinctive, flamboyant label with world-wide demand.

‘The exhibition will explore Easton Pearson’s unique and intricate designs through examples from their archive, together with video footage, look-books and fabric samples.

‘Easton Pearson has generously made these materials available to the Gallery, allowing us to put together an exhibition that will truly explore the fashion house’s many achievements over 20 years,’ Mr Ellwood said.

‘Often using hand embroidered, painted and commissioned fabrics from specialized crafts people, Easton Pearson has established a completely individual style that sets it amongst the leading Australian design houses,’ he said.

Easton Pearson was founded in 1988 and has exhibited in a variety of leading Australian and international fashion festivals including, the 2008 Mercedes-Benz Fashion Festival - Brisbane, Rosemount Australian Fashion Week, and at Paris Fashion Week since 1998.
