TACOMA, WA.- The City of Tacoma’s third annual Zeit-Bike display and competition takes place again at Tacoma Art Museum. This year’s theme is “Spoke Tales,” and artists and bicycling enthusiasts of all ages have been invited to create imaginative bicycle wheel spoke cards promoting bicycling in Tacoma. The deadline for submitting spoke cards is Wednesday, May 13, 2009. Entries will be on display in wheel spokes at Tacoma Art Museum Tuesday, May 19, through Friday, May 22. Three winners will be announced on Free Third Thursday, May 21. The winners will receive prizes and have their designs reproduced and made available to the public.
Also on Third Thursday, teens 18 and under are invited to participate in ArtBeat: Teen Night Out at the Museum from 6 to 8 pm. ArtBeat is an event designed by teens for teens and will feature fun art-making activities, live drum beats, photo ops, free prizes, food, and much more. Students from Lincoln High School have formed a teen night committee and worked with Tacoma Art Museum’s Community Programs Coordinator, Melisa Jennings, to plan this free fun event for teens.
