DUSSELDORF.- Düsseldorf’s second Quadriennale, a series of high-caliber exhibits in nine of the city’s major art houses and galleries, is titled “Quadriennale 2010 – Presence of Art” and features contemporary art in and from Düsseldorf of the past 50 years. The series, which also explores the far-reaching influences the city’s art and artists had and have on the international art world and beyond, is scheduled to run from early September 2010 through January 2011.

This year’s Quadriennale establishes Düsseldorf even further as an international cultural metropolis. It also fuels the rise of the Rhine-Ruhr region as Europe’s art capital 2010, in which the region’s cities unite with various world-class art programs and events.

Quadriennale 2010 includes exhibits by internationally renowned artists Joseph Beuys, Nam June Paik, Marcel Broodthaers and others in venues such as K20, K21, Benrath Castle, museum kunst palest, and NRW-Forum Düsseldorf.

The exhibits will be preceded by a Symposium in early fall, an open forum that invites all visitors including trade in preparation for the exhibits. Exact dates and locations will be available at www.quadriennale-duesseldorf.de/

Düsseldorf is at the center of Germany’s Ruhr Area, which is the 2010 European Capital of Culture. Düsseldorf, only a short distance from many major destinations, makes possible easy travel to the Rhine-Ruhr area, Cologne, Belgium, and the Netherlands, as well as many opportunities for short and long-term stays.

Düsseldorf International Airport, Germany’s third largest, offers several non-stop flights from US & Canadian cities (Atlanta, Chicago, Ft. Myers, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, Newark, Toronto, San Francisco, Vancouver), as well as convenient connections to many European cities and beyond.
