MONTGOMERY, AL.- Art Auction 2010, The Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts’ biennial fundraiser is scheduled for February of 2010. The Silent Auction of more than 450 works of art will take place on the evening of Thursday, February 25, from 6:30 to 9, and will include an elaborate selection of hors d’oeuvres and cocktails. Tickets for all the food, beverages and bidding that one can enjoy are only $50 per person.

On Saturday, February 27 cocktails at 6 p.m. will be followed by an elegant dinner and Live Auction of 35 lots conducted by auctioneer Sarah Friedlander of Christie’s, New York. Tickets for the evening are $150 per person (or $250 per person for preferred seating) and include admission and all of the fun of the Silent Auction at no additional charge. Tables of eight or 10 are available.

A committee of volunteers has traveled the country seeking works of art in all media to tempt the collectors of Montgomery. There will be many choices at all price points for both novice decorators and seasoned collectors. Special favorites are to be found in extensive offerings from New York and Santa Fe. All details of both events are being coordinated by the Steering Committee, chaired by Pat Wanglie.

If unable to attend one of the Auction evenings, one may obtain a bid number at no cost and place advance bids on items in both the Silent and Live Auctions. Many advance bidders have become successful owners of wonderful works of art at past auctions. The exhibition of works for auction will be available for bidding on February 6 and a volunteer will be in the gallery during regular Museum hours to provide information and bid numbers. High bidders will be notified of their successes immediately following the events.

Proceeds from the biennial Art Auction support the exhibition, education and acquisition programs of the Museum. Art Auction 2010 is sponsored by Merrill Lynch.
