LONDON.- The Art Loss Register announced the appointment of MaryKate Cleary (pictured right) as Manager of Historic Claims and Research and Julia Rickmeyer (pictured left) as European Clients Manager. MaryKate joins the London office to continue the exceptional work of Sarah Jackson, who ran the ALR's Historic Claims and Research Department for over 19 years. Sarah leaves the company to spend more time with her husband and two-year-old daughter, but will continue to serve as a consultant on a number of restitution cases.

MaryKate has previously worked for the ALR's Cologne office, the Jewish Museum in New York, the art sales database 'Artnet.com', and completed an internship with Sotheby's Restitution Department. She holds a BA in German Literature from Catholic University, Washington D.C., an MA in the History of Art from the Courtauld Institute, London, and has previously studied at both Humboldt Universitaet in Berlin and Technische Universitaet in Dresden. She is fluent in English and German, and has a working knowledge of Italian, Russian and French.

Julia joins the ALR after completing her final research project as a consultant specialist on restitution claims for German legal teams. As the ALR's European Clients Manager, Julia will serve as the central point of contact for all German, Austrian and Swiss clients, previously managed by Louisa von Loringhoven who is on maternity leave.

Julia holds an MA in Law from the University of Hamburg and an MA in Art Business from Sotheby's Institute of Art, London. Before working as a consultant specialist, Julia worked for Artbridge, a company which serves to introduce artists and galleries to specialist interior designers. She also completed an internship at Sotheby's Restitution Department. Julia is fluent in German and English and has a working knowledge in French and Italian.
