| Metropolitan Museum Offers Added Viewing Day for Highly Popular Special Exhibitions, Selected Galleries |

NEW YORK, NY.- On Independence Day (Monday, July 4)—the next in the series of Met Holiday Mondays—the public will have an additional opportunity to view the Museum's galleries, including popular exhibitions Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty; Richard Serra Drawing: A Retrospective; and Poetry in Clay: Korean Buncheong Ceramics from Leeum, Samsung Museum of Art. Met Holiday Mondays are extra public viewing days that take place on the Mondays of major holiday weeks and weekends, when historically the Museum has been closed. Met Mondays with McQueen—a program that offers a special ticketing opportunity on selected Mondays to view this exhibition only—will not be in effect on July 4, but will resume July 11. Therefore, Independence Day Met Holiday Monday is a rare, added opportunity for the public to view the exhibition at the regular overall recommended admission.
Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty showcases the late designer's extraordinary contribution to fashion through 100 examples of his iconic work (extended to August 7). Richard Serra Drawing: A Retrospective traces the vital role that drawing has played in the work of the noted contemporary artist (through August 28) and Poetry in Clay: Korean Buncheong Ceramics from Leeum, Samsung Museum of Art presents 60 bold and startlingly modern ceramics from 15th- and 16th- century Korea (through August 14).
"Cutting-edge fashion, dramatically installed; monumental drawings by an influential contemporary artist; and surprisingly modern pottery created 500 years ago. These are just a few of the current offerings at the Metropolitan," stated Emily K. Rafferty, President of the Metropolitan Museum. "The unique combination of special exhibitions and family activities that the Museum provides—along with opportunities to shop and enjoy a casual lunch—makes the Met the perfect destination for a summer day trip for tourists and area residents alike."
The Metropolitan's public cafeteria and several of the gift shops in the main building will be open, and Charles H. Tally Holiday Monday Family Programs will be offered on all of these special viewing days. A different selection of exhibitions will be open on each Met Holiday Monday.
The next Met Holiday Mondays will be on Labor Day (September 5).
