AUGUSTA, GA.- The Morris Museum of Art, the first museum dedicated to the art and artists of the American South, announces the release of its first iPhone app, available immediately for download for FREE in the Apple App Store
here.
The app enables users to listen to audio about and view images of selected works from the permanent collection that are currently on display; view images and information on archived, current, and upcoming exhibitions; view the museums quarterly calendar of events and save them into their iPhone iCal; donate to the museum, join, or complete a volunteer application; find general museum information such as admission, hours, and a map of the galleries; and share Morris app information via social networks such as Facebook and Twitter.
This iPhone app will be an excellent tool for educators, museum members, and visitors, commented Nicole Mcleod, director of marketing and public relations at the Morris Museum of Art. The app turns the iPhone into a helpful, handheld guide for museum visitors, offering brief insight into pieces in each gallery of our permanent collection. It also allows Morris Museum fans throughout the world to take a virtual tour of our permanent collection and special exhibitions.
The Morris Museum of Arts iPhone app was designed and built by VenuLex Solutions, an Alpharetta-based company that has been developing enterprise-grade software solutions for a variety of industries since 2000. VenuLexs MobileMuseum platform is a free service for museums. VenuLex has worked with the Tellus Science Museum in Cartersville, Georgia, and the Museum of Aviation in Warner Robins, Georgia. For more information on VenuLex and their MobileMuseum platform, visit their website at www.venulex.com.
At this time, the Morris Museum of Art app is available only for the iPhone and iPod Touch; however, the app for Android-based phones is slated to be completed in late 2012.
