LONDON.- Leading children’s charity the NSPCC and international auction house Bonhams announced that a portrait of Kate Moss by Norwegian fashion photographer Sølve Sundsbø has been added to the list of iconic images to be offered for sale at Bonhams, Knightsbridge, as part of the Photographs auction on 17th May 2012. Donated by the British supermodel herself, this photograph will be among 11 lots to be sold to raise funds for NSPCC and its Rebuilding Childhoods Appeal, which provides therapy for children and young people who have suffered abuse.

A host of leading photographers and private collectors have already donated works to the auction, with other highlights including Patrick Demarchelier’s stunning image of Christy Turlington taken in New York in 1986 and a playful shot of Brigitte Bardot and Sean Connery on the set of 1968 Western Shalako by celebrated British photographer, Terry O’Neill.

Among other outstanding donations are several show-stopping portraits of well-known celebrity faces: Florence Welch (of Florence and the Machine) by Israeli photographer, Nadav Kander; the notoriously flamboyant fashion designer Valentino by Martin Schoeller; Twiggy by Barry Lategan; the beautiful Celia Hammond by Terence Donovan; artist of the moment Damien Hirst by David Bailey; and a striking portrait of British actor Oliver Reed by celebrity photographer, Alistair Morrison.

This section of the sale also features Miles Aldridge’s Extravagant, Sophisticated Lady, 2011 and an intimate shot from Rankin’s ‘Snog’ series, 2000.

Jocelyn Phillips, Head of Photographs at Bonhams, said: “We are delighted to be working with the NSPCC to offer this exciting group of photographs for auction and to raise funds for a very worthwhile cause.”

Andrew Flanagan, chief executive of the NSPCC said; “We are very pleased to be involved in such an exciting auction. Without support such as this, we would not be able to deliver vital therapeutic services.”
