Eric Knowles heads to Liverpool to unearth hidden gems for Bonhams

LONDON.- A team of art and antiques specialists from Bonhams, led by Eric Knowles, will be on hand to offer advice to antique collectors on Monday, 17th September 2012 at Crowne Plaza Hotel, Princes Dock, Pier Head, Liverpool.

The Valuations Day will run from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. The Bonhams team includes the following arts specialists: Eric Knowles, Richard Hopkinson (Pictures), Alexander Clement (Ceramics), Rachel Holland (Ceramics), Andrew Spicer (Jewellery, Silver, Watches, Medals and Coins), Christopher Jarrey (General valuer), Stephanie Connell and Katherine Williams (Entertainment Memorabilia).

A Bonhams spokesman says that the Northwest region has proved to be a treasure trove for art and antiques.

Locally sourced items which have sold well recently include:

• Captain of the Eleven, a painting by Philip Hermogenes Calderon, sold for £240,000 on 11th July 2012 (excluding buyers premium). It was sourced from a Blackpool primary school.

• A pair of famille rose lime green-ground Chinese baluster vases sold for £100,000 and £75,000 respectively (excluding buyers premium). Sourced from the Manchester/Hale office.

• A Liverpool Airport notice – autographed by the Beatles – sold for £16,500.

• A French late 19th century writing desk by Millet, Paris – sold for £40,000 on 5th July 2012. Sourced from Bonhams Southport office.
