NEW YORK, NY.- Swann Galleries Fine Art specialists Todd Weyman and Erin Bennett will bring select highlights from the October 31 auction of Old Master Through Modern Prints, and Salvador Dalí: Prints, Drawings & Livres d’Artiste to a Paris preview at Artcurial. The Paris auction house and Swann are members of the International Auctioneers, a consortium of eight auction houses in the U.S. and Europe.

“We are very pleased to present these important works at such an esteemed French auction house,” said Todd Weyman, Swann Vice President and Director of Prints & Drawings. “Our partnership with Artcurial enables us to bring these prints to an ever more global audience.”

This is not the first collaboration between the two auction houses. Swann brought a selection of highlights from last March’s auction of Jean-Émile Laboureur: Prints, Paintings & Livres d'Artiste to Artcurial last winter and hundreds of visitors took in the preview at their beautiful space in Paris. And, Swann has hosted New York-based exhibitions of Julio Gonzalez’s Le Masque du Poète and an Untitled Alexander Calder mobile for Artcurial.

On view October 5, 6 and 8 will be several works by Albrecht Dürer, including the 1504 engraving Adam and Eve (estimate: $60,000 to $90,000); and more than 20 examples by Rembrandt van Rijn, among them Christ Healing the Sick (The Hundred Guilder Print), etching, engraving and drypoint, circa 1643-49, considered the artist’s most ambitious, complex and highly worked composition as a printmaker, which was known in the 17th century for being valued at a hundred guilders or more, now estimated at $150,000 to $200,000.

In addition to these fine Old Masters is an impression of Vincent van Gogh's only etching, Homme a la Pipe: Portrat du Docteur Gachet, made in 1890, a portrait of the doctor who not only administered to the artist, but taught him how to etch, just months before van Gogh's death ($60,000 to $90,000).

A selection of works by Salvador Dalí represents a special section of the auction devoted to prints, drawings and livres d’artise by the surrealist. These include Les Chants de Maldoror, portfolio with complete text and 30 engravings on Japon nacré, signed and numbered in pencil, 1974 ($30,000to $50,000) and Femme au Cochon, pen and black ink and pencil on paper, a study for the same-titled etching in Faust, circa 1969 ($20,000 to $30,000).

The works will be on view at Artcurial, Hôtel Marcel Dassault, 7 rond-point des Champs-Élysées, 75008 Paris on October 5, 6 and 8, from noon to 6 p.m.
