MELBOURNE.- Bonhams announce the appointment of Jennifer Gibson as Head of Fine Furniture, Decorative Arts and Asian Art for Bonhams, Australia. She will be based in the new Melbourne office at Ormond Hall.

James Hendy, Bonhams Australia CEO says: “We are delighted to welcome Jennifer to Bonhams. She brings with her an outstanding track record and a wide-ranging and deep knowledge of her field. She will be a great asset to Bonhams as we seek to consolidate our position as the number one player in the Australian market.”

Jennifer brings to her new position a wealth of industry experience with a focus on strong client relationships having held the role as Head of Decorative Arts and senior auctioneer at both an International and Australian auction house for the past 14 years. Her expertise includes English, Australian and Continental furniture, ceramics, glass, sculpture and silver coupled with a keen interest in Asian works of Art including Japanese ceramics and textiles.

Jennifer has overseen the sale of a number of historically important pieces including the 1867 Melbourne cup in 2011, and in 2010 achieved a record auction price for Australian furniture when the Peter McLean Cedar sideboard sold for AU$600,000.
