LONDON.- Frieze has announced today the participating galleries for Frieze Masters 2013. Following wide acclaim for the inaugural edition of Frieze Masters in 2012, the second edition of the fair experienced a strong demand with applications from the world’s leading galleries. Dedicated to art from ancient to modern, Frieze Masters will take place 17–20 October 2013 on Gloucester Green, Regent’s Park, London, and is sponsored by Deutsche Bank.

Frieze Masters is a carefully selected presentation of approximately 120 of the world’s leading galleries. The participating galleries will exhibit art ranging from the ancient era and old masters through to art of the 20th century. Representing 15 countries overall, this year’s gallery list sees additions that include: Dan Galeria (São Paulo); Dickinson (London); Dominique Lévy Gallery (New York); Galerie Malingue (Paris); Galerie Sanct Lucas (Vienna); Johnny Van Haeften (London); Landau Fine Art (Montreal); Mitchell-Innes & Nash (New York); Mnuchin Gallery (New York); Otto Naumann (New York); Richard Gray Gallery (Chicago); Richard Green Gallery, (London); and Skarstedt Fine Art (New York).

Spotlight is a section of the fair dedicated to solo artist presentations. It will offer visitors the chance to discover artists working throughout the 20th century, from 14 territories: Austria, Argentina, Benin, Brazil, Egypt, France, Germany, India, Italy, Lebanon, Serbia, South Africa, UK and USA. The selection of the galleries in Spotlight is advised by curator Adriano Pedrosa.

Victoria Siddall, Director of Frieze Masters, said: ‘The diversity and quality of the exhibitor list is what makes Frieze Masters different to other fairs. There will be a unique combination of classic work from throughout history and exciting discoveries. I am thrilled with the list and to be welcoming so many excellent new and returning galleries from all over the world to Frieze Masters in its second year.’

Frieze Masters is designed by architect Annabelle Selldorf whose contemporary, elegant environment was widely praised in the fair’s inaugural year.

Frieze Masters will include a programme of talks in which leading contemporary artists will draw out relationships between their practice and historical art. Talks at Frieze Masters are programmed by Jasper Sharp.

Once again, the fair will give a unique contemporary perspective on art throughout the ages. Coinciding with, and within walking distance of, Frieze London, the two fairs will make London the focus for as broad as possible an international art audience and will benefit from a crossover between audiences of contemporary and historical art.
