OTTERLO.- The Kröller-Müller Museum has received an important donation from the Art & Project / Depot VBVR Collection. The donation consists of over two hundred, mostly three-dimensional works by artists including Carl Andre, Adam Colton, Tony Cragg, Ger van Elk, Barry Flanagan, Hamish Fulton, Jos Kruit, Richard Long, Andrew Lord, Juan Muñoz, Willy Ørskov, Nicholas Pope, Carel Visser and Leo Vroegindeweij.

Art & Project / Depot VBVR Collection
The Art & Project / Depot VBVR Collection was assembled by Geert van Beijeren (1933-2005) and Adriaan van Ravesteijn (1938), owners of the gallery Art & Project. On the whole, the collection is consistent with the programme of the gallery, which opened in 1968 in Amsterdam and was located in Slootdorp in the Wieringermeer from 1990 until it closed in 2001. The artists represented in the collection are among the most prominent from the second half of the twentieth century, both nationally and internationally.

The donation is very much in keeping with the collection of the Kröller-Müller Museum, in which many Art & Project artists are already included. The museum regularly acquired work from the gallery in the nineteen seventies and eighties.

With this donation to the Kröller-Müller Museum, all the components of the Art & Project / Depot VBVR Collection (about 850 works in total) have reached their final destination. From 1999 until late 2012, large parts of the collection were transferred to the Rijksmuseum Twenthe in Enschede. Smaller clusters went to the Gemeentemuseum Den Haag, MoMA in New York, Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen in Rotterdam and the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam. The archive of the Art & Project gallery is housed at the Netherlands Institute for Art History (RKD) in The Hague. The institutions concerned work together closely on the management and conservation of the Art & Project / Depot VBVR collection and for the purpose of making it visible to the public.

A One Day Walk
From 6 December 2013 to 30 March 2014, the museum will display around seventy works by Anthony Caro, Philip King, Richard Long, Hamish Fulton, Nicholas Pope, Barry Flanagan, Tony Cragg and Bill Woodrow, under the title A One Day Walk, which derives from a work by Hamish Fulton.

Compiled from the Art & Project / Depot VBVR collection and the Kröller-Müller collection, the exhibition shows a number of important developments in British art in the nineteen sixties, seventies and eighties.
