WALWORTH, WIS.- Mecum Auctions will be offering the custom 2007 Ford Stryker Mustang (Lot F206.1) of George Shinn, former owner of the Charlotte Hornets NBA basketball team, this Friday, Sept. 6. Offered at no reserve by the George Shinn Foundation, the car will cross the block live between 5 and 7 p.m. (CT) on Discovery’s Velocity Network at the Dallas Convention Center. All proceeds will directly benefit The Roever Foundation and its Operation Warrior RECONnect program.

The Roever Foundation was established by injured Vietnam Veteran Dave Roever to help those in underprivileged countries, the youth in our public schools and our military by providing them with inspirational speaking tours and life training. When Shinn and his namesake foundation first heard of the Roever Foundation and its Operation Warrior RECONnect program, they were inspired to contribute to the cause. The program strives to help wounded veterans find a new purpose after serving, through various classes and camps focused on healing and starting fresh. Shinn and his foundation knew almost immediately that the donation of the Stryker Mustang would be the perfect way to chip in.

Specially built by Texas Classic Cars and Sanderson Customs and Conversions, the Mustang, dressed in full patriotic livery, was intended as a tribute to America’s military and was named after two American servicemen and recipients of the Medal of Honor, Private First Class Stuart S. Stryker and Specialist Four Robert F. Stryker. The car has since made appearances at venues across the country earning numerous awards for its craftsmanship and all the while drumming up support for military members. The Stryker Mustang will now become a means of raising funds to benefit the Operation Warrior RECONnect program through its offering at the Mecum Dallas auction this Sept. 4-7.

Doors to the Dallas Auction will open each day at 8 a.m. and portions of all four days will be broadcast live on Discovery’s Velocity Network with a live stream of the entire auction presented by Mecum at www.mecum.com.
