ALBANY, NY.- An exhibition commemorating the fiftieth anniversary of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy in Dallas , Texas is now open at the New York State Library in Albany , NY . Dallas, 11/22/63: 50 Years Later can be seen on the main public floor of the New York State Library (seventh floor of Cultural Education Center ).

Open to the public through December 31, 2013, the exhibition features newspapers from November 23, 1963, popular magazines detailing the events of the President’s funeral, commemorative objects from some of the many memorial services held for a nation in mourning, and original sketches by Times Union editorial cartoonist Hy Rosen.

“The Board of Regents and the State Library invite the public to visit this exhibit and learn how President Kennedy’s assassination had such a profound impact on the nation,” said State Librarian Bernard Margolis. “The Library selected materials from our collections to pay tribute to President Kennedy and his memory, fifty years after his assassination in Dallas in 1963.”

Also on display is a program from the major memorial service conducted at City Hall Plaza in New York City on December 2, 1963 donated by New York State Assemblywoman Donna A. Lupardo from the personal papers of her father, Francis P. Lupardo. Francis Lupardo, a printer at the New York City Sanitation Department, printed the memorial service program for the December 2nd program.
