BETHANY, CT.- The Josef and Anni Albers Foundation announced another exciting development in its partnership with Fab: a one-time charity-benefit sale of a rare red artist proof from Josef Albers’s iconic Homage to the Square series to support (RED) and The Global Fund, the world’s leading financier of programs to fight AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria. This proof from the artist’s studio was signed and numbered in pencil by Albers in 1971, and has never before been offered for sale. The work will be offered at $10,000, and will be part of the (FAB)RED holiday store launching on Fab on World AIDS Day, December 1.

Interestingly, Josef Albers sold very few red works during his lifetime and the red homages were almost exclusively reserved for his wife, Anni, who expressed the sentiment that the color represented love and therefore works in red should be kept for her. The rare red proof, donated by the Josef and Anni Albers Foundation, represents the artist’s passion for, and appreciation of, the visual experience. The proof available on Fab is framed and matted. All net proceeds for the sale of the proof will benefit (RED).

“We are very excited to offer this rare print by Josef Albers to consumers everywhere, via Fab and we are delighted to donate the proceeds of the sale to (RED),” said Lucy Weber Youdovin, Special Projects and Licensing at the Josef and Anni Albers Foundation. “This is a unique opportunity for consumers, because we hardly ever offer red prints for sale and this is the first time an original work by Josef Albers will be sold online and will be available to the public.”

Reproduction Exhibition Prints also now available
As part of its collaboration with the Josef and Anni Albers Foundation, Fab also now offers reproductions of 34 vintage Josef Albers exhibition posters, dating from 1957-2012.

Reproductions of these posters, which are preserved in the Foundation archives, have never before been made available for public sale.
