NASHVILLE, TN.- Though its acclaimed LIGHT exhibition closed last month, Cheekwood has announced that one of the show’s most impressive indoor pieces will remain on display in the Cheekwood Mansion for the next three years.

Joanne and Gary of Nashville generously provided underwriting for the extended loan.

British artist Bruce Munro’s fiber optic Bell Chandelier was created specifically for the Cheekwood Mansion’s Rotunda as a part of LIGHT. The piece features two miles of fiber optic cable cascading from the top of the domed hall, each strand with a miniature brass bell shade at its end. The effect is dramatic and stunning in the space, spanning the majority of the hall’s height to hang just 7’ from the ground floor level.

Bruce Munro’s LIGHT installation transformed the botanical garden and art museum from May to November of 2013, welcoming more than180,000 visitors to experience the large-scale sculptural art pieces made with hundreds of miles of fiber optic cable. The exhibition’s signature, Field of Light, created an undulating carpet of glowing bulbs “planted” across a large portion of the estate’s grounds.
