Art Plural: New book profiles over 25 leading international contemporary artists
From China to India and Europe to the Americas, the artists profiled in Art Plural foster dialogue bridging East and West in today’s globalised art world.

SINGAPORE.- Audemars Piguet, Gatehouse Publishing and Art Plural Gallery announced the publication of Art Plural: Voices of Contemporary Art, which will be unveiled during Art Stage Singapore, 16-19 January 2014. This selection of over 25 leading international contemporary artists is curated by Swiss gallerist Frédéric de Senarclens of Art Plural Gallery in Singapore. Art historian and author Michael Peppiatt offers an insightful introduction on the growing globalization of art, while Jane A. Peterson’s thought-provoking interviews provide an intimate insight into each artist’s creative process. This book is published in collaboration with Swiss watch manufacturer Audemars Piguet.

From China to India and Europe to the Americas, the artists profiled in Art Plural foster dialogue bridging East and West in today’s globalised art world. These include Armen Agop, Ali Banisadr, Agathe de Bailliencourt, Chun Kwang Young, Yves Dana, Adam Dant, Ian Davenport, Bernard Frize, Fu Lei, Li Tianbing, Adriana Molder, Nan Qi, Jedd Novatt, Sherman Ong, Dane Patterson, Qiu Jie, Imran Qureshi, Pablo Reinoso, Doug & Mike Starn, Agus Suwage, Thukral & Tagra, Tian Taiquan, Gert & Uwe Tobias, Bernar Venet, Fabienne Verdier, Zhang Huan and Zhang Xiaogang.

Society has now reached a point where art is created and viewed in a wider global framework. Though national and local traditions remain influential, artists today are researching, referencing, creating and proliferating in a truly international context. Old polarities between North and South and East and West are being redefined, and artists are now connected in ways never before possible across vast distances and cultures.

Gallerist Frédéric de Senarclens says, “Art Plural is both a reference for collectors and an entry point for art lovers. The thoughts and ideas conveyed by this select group of contemporary artists capture the essence of society and embody the experience of recent generations.”

Art Plural is full of insights for both art collectors and readers new to contemporary art. Artist chapters showcase large-scale, true reproductions that allow the artworks to stand alone and at the same time to be viewed in conjunction with the artist’s larger body of work. The book explores the works of artists who have acquired lasting international recognition, as well as those at the cusp of notoriety. Managing Director of Audemars Piguet, Asia, Oliviero Bottinelli, says, “Haute Horology and the arts are closely related as both are devoted to creativity and mastery. Art Plural: Voices of Contemporary Art is an excellent platform for us to highlight the existing interaction between craft and the arts, and through this exciting project, Audemars Piguet continues its commitment to support the arts”.

Art Plural will be released in conjunction with Art Stage Singapore 2014, a global art fair attracting the world’s most influential private art collectors and corporate buyers. At the crossroads between Southeast Asia, China, India, the Middle East, Australia and New Zealand, Art Stage Singapore is the flagship cultural event of the region and the place to experience Asian contemporary art at its best.
