HASTINGS.- Jerwood Gallery is aiming to raise £25,000 to bring two of the most famous names in the contemporary art world, Jake and Dinos Chapman, back to Hastings for a major show in their home town this autumn.

The gallery will be raising money for the exhibition through the Art Fund’s new crowdfunding initiative, Art Happens, which launches today www.artfund.org/arthappens . Art Happens is a platform that will help UK museums raise money for new, small-scale, achievable and highly creative projects.

The exhibition, which the gallery is hoping to fund through the scheme, will be of new, previously unseen work by Jake and Dinos Chapman, including pieces commissioned exclusively for the exhibition. The brothers will scour the antique emporiums and junk shops of Hastings for old artworks which will then be ‘fixed’ (or defaced) by the brothers in their signature anarchic style. There will be an unusual public programme of events to complement the exhibition, including a ‘live’ fixing clinic were members of the public will be able to witness works being doctored by the brothers, and there will also be a tattoo parlour, terrifyingly manned by Jake Chapman. The exhibition marks a significant moment, as it will bring the Chapman Brothers back home for their first major exhibition of new work in the town where they grew up and went to school.

All donors will be thanked for their contribution with exclusive rewards:
