MONACO.- The links between a great number of works of art with works that are either contemporary to them or anteriorlinks revealed through quotations, allusions, references, parodies, praise, criticism, diversion, remakes, appropriation, reuse etc.such is the theme of this exhibition. In it, these artistic relationships, visible or secret, between the works and between the artists, are explored in all the diversity of their expression. In addition, the exhibition illustrates how these artworks owe nothing to either the backward-looking signs of regret or of reverence; rather their dynamism comes from transformation, inspiration, from the production of forms and ideas.
Fifty works from the Pinault Collection are being shown (including more than a third that have never been shown before in previous exhibitions of the Collection), representing thirty-three artists.
The Collection bears witness to the diversity of media (painting, sculpture, installation, video, drawing
), to generations of artists (including the greatest names of the sixties to the nineties face to face with younger creators) and to the geographic regions from which these artists have come (Europe, America, Asia, Middle East). This diversity, so characteristic of the Pinault Collection, is thus a reflection of its spirit of openness, commitment and generosity.
As is well known, every summer the
Grimaldi Forum Monaco produces a major themed exhibition, dedicated to an important artistic movement, to a patrimonial subject, one of civilization or to a private or public collection, to any subject that is an expression of the renewing of creation. This becomes an occasion to highlight its assets and its distinctiveness: offering a 4000 square meter space for creation in all freedom; providing the most state-of-the-art technological tools for the exhibition design, and calling on the best specialists in each field so as to ensure the scientific quality of its exhibitions.
