DUBLIN.- The exhibition brings together three works by Swedish artist Jacob Dahlgren, which have been reconfigured for Rua Red.

'The Wonderful World of Abstraction' takes its sculptural form from 1000’s of metres of multi-coloured ribbon, which are suspended uniformly from a metal frame – to kaleidoscopic effect. 'Units of Measurement' is a newly commissioned work for Rua Red taking place across the gallery walls, utilizing thirty 30m yellow measuring tapes. Meanwhile 'Non Object', 2013, 1:25 DVD loop, is a collection of videos of people walking around cities followed by Dahlgren shot covertly from a digital camera held by the artist. It quickly becomes clear that each individual is wearing a horizontally striped top.

Visitors are invited by Dahlgren to step into his pictorial and sculptural world by walking across and through his artworks.

He says, “It’s very important to be part of the work, to walk on it and to make that decision to. At first you don’t know if this is ok, if you are allowed to or not. Then once you see that you can, have permission to, it’s a magical moment.”

Acknowledging the sensual pleasure of the material world, and taking delight in the moments of physical and social interaction are recurrent themes in Dahgren’s work.

Jacob Dahlgren was born in 1970, Stockholm, Sweden. Recent exhibitions solo include On Balance, Fabrica, Brighton, UK, 2014; Non object Duet Gallery, St Louis, US, 2014; No conflict no irony (I love the whole world), Collective Gallery Edinburgh, Scottland, 2013; Painting into Space and the Meaning of Construction Galleri Andrehn-Schiptjenko, Stockholm, 2013; Between obvious form and supposed content, Kristianstad Konsthall, 2013; Kunstraum, London UK , 2013; Work as method project for Austrian Chamber of Labour Vienna Austria, 2013; Neo Concrete Ballet Grad Culture Center, Belgrade, Serbia, 2012; Galerie Anhava, Helsinki, Finland, 2012; colour-time-structure Workplace Gallery, Gateshead UK, 2012; I, the world, things, life Schirn Kunsthalle, Frankfurt Germany 2011
