LONDON.- Mazzoleni Art announces the opening of its London gallery. The gallery is located in the heart of Mayfair at 27 Albemarle Street and is under the direction of Luigi Mazzoleni.

Following a major renovation, the 3,000 square foot space has three exhibition spaces across two floors and private viewing rooms. Like their eponymous gallery in Turin, founded in 1986, Mazzoleni will continue to present a curatorial programme focused on museum calibre Post-war Italian Art and Arte Povera, working in close collaboration with artists’ estates and foundations.

The opening exhibition – Post-war Italian Masters – brings together works by some of the most significant Italian artists of the Post-war period and gives an indication of the gallery’s future programme. Artists featured in the exhibition include Agostino Bonalumi, Alberto Burri, Enrico Castellani, Lucio Fontana, Piero Manzoni and Paolo Scheggi.

These artists contributed to the evolution of a new aesthetic and raised the profile of Italian art internationally, with new painting that used the power of colour, industrial materials and the iconography of the monochrome as definitive visual and conceptual elements. Their significance is rightly reflected in the rising global interest amongst both museums and private collectors.

‘Opening in London demonstrates the gallery’s continuing commitment to mounting historically relevant and carefully curated exhibitions of Post-War Italian Art. By having a space in London, a city with a highly developed cultural infrastructure, we are able to bring key works of undisputable quality to an increasingly international audience and engage with our growing number of collectors as the market strengthens’ says Luigi Mazzoleni.

Highlights of the exhibition include Concetto Spaziale, Attesa (1965) by Lucio Fontana, Superficie Bianca n.22 (1969) by Enrico Castellani, Rosso Plastica L.A (1966) by Alberto Burri, Bianco (1975) by Agostino Bonalumi and Achrome (1957-1958) by Piero Manzoni amongst other iconic works.
