DALLAS, TX.- RM Auctions together with Auctions America reaffirmed its position as the industry leader in private automotive collection sales on the weekend, generating an impressive $11,543,400 in sales with 100 percent of lots sold at its Sam Pack Five Star Collection sale in Dallas, Texas.

The result of more than a decade of dedicated acquisition by respected businessman, Sam Pack, the collection presented a broad range of ownership opportunities for enthusiasts. From a terrific series of fifties and sixties icons, through to a remarkable collection of Detroit muscle, and a superb series of concepts, customs and modern collectibles, the offering was marked by incredible diversity and quality. In total, Saturday’s sale lifted the gavel on 131 vehicles before a packed house. The offering represented just a portion of Mr. Pack’s immense collection, offered in an effort to downsize the group to a more manageable level and allowing him to remain active in the hobby. Impressively, bidders represented eight countries from around the world and 36 states across the U.S.

“We were incredibly honored to have been entrusted by Mr. Pack to handle this sale, and thrilled to continue our strong track record in Texas” said Ian Kelleher, Managing Director of RM Auctions’ and Auctions America’s West Coast Division. “The results reflect not only a great group of motor cars, but an appreciation for the passion of a true gentleman and collector. Mr. Pack’s unwavering commitment to quality was industry known and wonderfully represented by the offering this weekend. As an owner, he instilled confidence in many of the first time bidders and veteran collectors in attendance, who were more than happy to take home a car of excellent presentation and condition. All in all, it was a fantastic sale with plenty of spirited bidding and numerous lots exceeding expectations.”

Headlining Saturday’s sale and the subject of one of many lively bidding contests, was an iconic 1967 Shelby 427 Cobra. A part of the collection since 2008, the iconic American sports car achieved seven figures, selling for a strong $1,292,500. Another hotly contested lot was the “as-new” 2006 Ford GT, one of 60 Fords that crossed the podium. Featuring delivery mileage only with less than 13 miles on its clock, the GT garnered a fantastic $418,000 – a strong result that reflects the continued popularity and rising values of these late-model collectibles. Additional Fords exceeding pre-sale estimates included a supercharged 1957 Ford Thunderbird “F-Code”, which passed onto its fourth owner for $247,500, and a one-off 2012 Ford Mustang Boss 302 Laguna Seca Parnelli Jones Edition, showing just 38.5 miles, which commanded $88,000.

Illustrating the collection’s incredible diversity, a superb series of customs also drew big bids. Tremendous pre-sale interest in the 1939 Lincoln-Zephyr Coupe Custom, a stunning creation with 600bhp, translated into an outstanding $253,000 (above estimate), while a 1937 Ford Roadster Oze Custom, described as a street rod for the 21st century, achieved $99,000 against a pre-sale estimate of $60,000 - $80,000.

Other notable sales included:

• a 2006 Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS NASCAR, campaigned by Jeff Gordon in the 2006 and 2007 seasons, fuelled one of the most intense battles of the day. Roaring onto the auction stage to applause from the audience, it shattered its pre-sale estimate at a healthy $165,000.

• Highlighting the collection’s unique group of concepts was a 2005 Ford Sport Trac Adrenalin Concept, unveiled at the 2005 New York Auto Show, which tripled its pre-sale estimate at $173,250. A bold, one-of-a-kind 2004 Lincoln Mark X Concept, shown at the 2004 North American International Auto Show, also surpassed pre-sale expectations at $129,500.

Full proceeds from the sale of the collection’s 1970 Ford Mustang Boss 302 ($126,500), along with part proceeds from event admission, will be donated to Holy Angels, a residential and training campus for individuals with intellectual and development disabilities, in Shreveport, Louisiana.

“When I made the decision to pare down my collection, a lot of people asked me who I was going to use. Without hesitation, I said RM Auctions / Auctions America. In my opinion, they are the best in the business,” said Sam Pack. “I chose them based on years of respect and trust, and a relationship built on interacting with them as both a buyer and a seller. From their organization and process to their follow through and execution, the level of service they provide is unmatched. They are incredibly client-focused, and the fact that this weekend’s sale represented their 30th private collection in 35 years of business, speaks volumes.”
