The exhibition is a tradition that dates back to collaborations between Lamar Dodd himself and Alfred Holbrook, founder of the museum, but it continues to grow and change. This years class is also presenting exhibitions in Atlanta, at the Atlanta Decorative Arts Center, and in New York, in an attempt to reach new and larger audiences.
An exhibition catalogue with images representing each student, essays by masters and doctoral art history students in contemporary art on the work of their fellows in the studio art program, an essay by Daniel Fuller from the Atlanta Contemporary Art Center and a foreword from new Dodd director Chris Garvin serve as a record of the show.
Garvin said, Im thrilled to join this great tradition between these two historic institutions, sharing the schools best young artists with the rest of Georgia and the world. This years class is exceptional in the variety and quality of the work they have produced. I am excited to follow their careers for years to come.
