BERLIN.- Volkswagen and the Nationalgalerie - Staatliche Museen zu Berlin launched a new exhibition project this week by the installation artist Michael Beutler in the Hamburger Bahnhof in Berlin.
The Historische Halle of the museum Hamburger Bahnhof, located in the heart of Berlin, is the setting for a large-scale work of art which has been created by Michael Beutler over the course of several weeks. With this piece, Beutler continues his acclaimed work in which he assembles mundane materials in individual processes to create spatial installations relating directly to each particular site. In doing so, he presents an immediate entry into the process of artistic creation. Visitors to the museum will at times be able to join the artist while he sets up the installation and thus can join the creative evolvement.
"We are very pleased that this art project will transform the Hamburger Bahnhof into a space of creative endeavor, which will hopefully encourage visitors to discover new viewpoints and perspectives for themselves. We are very excited to see how Michael Beutler and his ideas will uncover new insights in this venue", comments Benita von Maltzahn, Head of Cultural Engagement within Group Communication of the Volkswagen AG.
Providing support for this exhibition project is part of a multiyear partnership between Volkswagen and the Nationalgalerie - Staatliche Museen zu Berlin. It is an example of the companys worldwide commitment to art and culture. While partnering with the most renowned museum in Germany, Volkswagen has been able to realize a number of exhibitions in the Alte and Neue Nationalgalerie as well as provide support for the acclaimed concert series of the avant-garde music group "Kraftwerk".
"Michael Beutler. Moby Dick" is on view at the Hamburger Bahnhof in Berlin from April 17 through September 6, 2015. The exhibition venue is located in close proximity to the Berliner Hauptbahnhof (Berlin central station) and is open every day of the week except Monday.
