BERLIN.- From 17th to 20th September 2015, the
POSITIONS BERLIN ART FAIR is again offering selected international exhibitors the opportunity to present the most significant artistic positions of their programmes in the context of Berlin Art Week. With 76 exhibitors from 16 countries POSITIONS BERLIN extends the spectrum of already existing formats in Berlin.
With the ARENA BERLIN, the art fair has found a central location for this, which provides ideal conditions for a high-quality fair design on a total surface of 6.500 square metres. Clear shapes, daylight and historical structures provide the hall from the1920s with a particular charm. Above that, Knut Völzke and the Leise Design Studio from Frankfurt develope an innovative concept for the free placement of booths, solo walls and and special presentations.
Also this year's POSITIONS BERLIN will offer a diverse supporting programme: There will be shown a curated selection of films under the title "Stadt - Land - Fluss" in the video lounge. In cooperation with the Berlin Hyp the fair awards a promotion prize to two promising young artists. On the occasion of its 20th anniversary the gallery association of Berlin (lvbg) presents the group exhibition "Katzengold" curated by Constanze Kleiner at the fair. The Peter-Christian-Schlüschen-foundation will honor the winner of its photo award with a value of 10.000 Euro at POSITIONS BERLIN and will exhibit the best works of the competition.
In the extended fair programme 29 positions of international artists will create a dialogue between Bologna and Berlin under the title "Macrocosmi - Ordnungen anderer Art" in the neighbouring Kunstfabrik am Flutgraben and at Altes Postfuhramt West. The group exhibition is curated by Pascual Jordan, Petra Dregger and Martina Cavallarin. Furthermore, the Botanical Museum Berlin-Dahlem presents a solo exhibition of the young Japanese artist Macoto Murayama, whose works combining traditional botanic illustration and digital age were shown at POSITIONS BERLIN last year.
With its new venue POSITIONS BERLIN is situated in one of the most vibrant, creative areas of the city and is in striking distance to restaurants, bars, clubs and numerous studio- and exhibition-spaces in Berlin-Kreuzberg. Located directly next to the Spree, it also offers a sublime view over the neighbouring Badeschiff, Jonathan Borofsky's famous "Molecule Man"-sculpture, Osthafen and the Oberbaumbrücke up to the television tower.
