OKLAHOMA CITY, OKLA.- The National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum announced the appointment of Inez S. Wolins as chief public experience officer, a newly created position at the national institution.
Bringing more than 25 years of experience in the museum field, Wolins will have the opportunity to create and shape a broad department encompassing education, programming and visitor services within the Museum. She will be responsible for designing and implementing the engagement strategy and programs for child, family and adult learning delivered by the Museum onsite, offsite, online and in-person.
Inez is truly a leader when it comes to bringing Museum experiences to life, said Museum President Steven Karr. Her passion for our mission, coupled with knowledge from her accomplishments at multiple other national institutions, makes her the ideal candidate for helping propel our Museum experience to the next level, building foundations that will enable future generations to find their West within our walls.
Prior to her current appointment, Wolins was chief of interpretation and education at Boston National Historical Park where she designed and implemented programs attracting more than 5 million annual visitors along Bostons Freedom Trail, including organizing exhibitions, engaging in program and exhibition evaluation, conducting visitor research and leading docent and board development workshops nationally. She also held leadership positions at the Autry National Center of the American West in Los Angeles, California, the C.M. Russell Museum in Great Falls, Montana, and the Wichita Art Museum in Wichita, Kansas.
Throughout her museum career, Wolins has held joint teaching appointments as an adjunct faculty member at Framingham State University in Framingham, Massachusetts, the University of South Florida in Tampa, Florida and Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York. For seven years, she taught in the prestigious graduate program in museum education at Bank Street College of Education in New York City. A frequent lecturer and prolific writer, she has published dozens of journal articles about teaching and learning in museums and classroom settings.
