CORNING, NY.- The Corning Museum of Glass recently announced management changes on its board of trustees. Dr. Jeffrey Evenson, senior vice president and chief strategy officer of Corning Incorporated, was appointed chairman of the board after serving since 2011. He fills the board position formerly held by James Flaws, after Flaws retired as vice chairman and chief financial officer of Corning Incorporated in November. Flaws will continue to serve on the board of The Corning Museum of Glass as the vice chairman.
Evenson joined Corning Incorporated in 2011, and oversees corporate strategy, corporate communications, and advanced analytics. Prior to his current position, he served as senior vice president and operations chief of staff, and was responsible for leading the process to create Cornings annual operating priorities and overseeing a variety of strategic programs and growth initiatives across the companys diverse businesses. Previously, he spent seven years at Sanford C. Bernstein as a senior vice president and senior analyst focused on data networking companies. Earlier in his career, Evenson was a partner at McKinsey & Company, where he led technology and market assessments for early-stage technologies.
Ive had the pleasure of working with Jeff since we both arrived in Corning in 2011, said Karol Wight, president and executive director of The Corning Museum of Glass. In the past two years, Jeff has played a pivotal role in assisting the Museums leadership team with the development of its strategic initiatives following the successful opening of our Contemporary Art + Design Wing last March. I look forward to working with Jeff, the rest of the board, and the staff of the Museum to see those initiatives through to reality.
Evenson has a Ph.D. in physics from Harvard University, where he was a National Science Foundation Fellow, and a bachelors degree in physics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. In addition to his role as chairman of the board, he is also a trustee of the Corning Foundation, and a member of the board of directors for View, Inc.
