NEW YORK, NY.- The inaugural NY Design + Art is a new international Fair produced by the ownership team of Art Miami. NY Design + Art Fair will provide a fresh alternative to collectors who are dedicated to the acquisition of collectible and limited edition furniture, design and art objects from the 20th and 21st centuries. The NY Design + Art Fair will take place annually each May, and will present programs from 50 leading international galleries, artist, architects and designers. The Fair will open with an elegant invitation only VIP Preview from 2-5 PM on Thursday, May 5th, providing a First View for VIP collectors and accredited members of the press, and welcome distinguished collectors, interior designers, decorators, architects, artists, art enthusiasts, curators, art advisers and international visitors through Sunday, May 8th. These prestigious galleries will exhibit in an intimate and sophisticated modern airy setting, designed against the dramatic backdrop of the historic 69th Regiment Armory, a 30,000 square foot beaux-arts landmark at Lexington Avenue and 25th Street, in the heart of the Flatiron District and at the crossroads of the energetic downtown art scene of the Lower East Side, Soho and Chelsea. Produced by the Art Miami team, the fair's refined ambiance will be welcoming and appealing to all levels of visitors, from the seasoned collector looking to enlarge his design collection, to the art enthusiast looking to create a collection.

There will be dedicated curated sections of the fair that will feature sponsored designer and decorator vignettes. These installations will provide an immersive, engaging experience for all that attend and will showcase the talents of those that are closely involved with the real-time and historical movements of the design industry. The fair will cater to both seasoned and new art collectors, interior designers, and decorators who are looking to experience the best of what the global contemporary design market has to offer in New York City this May. The versatile and rich selection of works on display will have a strong focus and representation of emergent talent, as well as mid-career artists, anchored by a fresh selection of historical works by top name artists and design galleries from the Modern & Post-War eras. The top 50 galleries will be selected carefully by the Fair's formal Advisory Committee, who will work directly with Fair Director/Partner Nick Korniloff and participating galleries to ensure a carefully-curated, rich-in-content, quality presentation, allowing collectors, designers, decorators, institutions, curators and art advisors to buy with confidence.

"We are thrilled to have the opportunity to bring a world class Design + Art Fair to New York City during this important week for the acquisition of art. We look forward to welcoming the world's leading art collectors, curators, institutions, designers, artists and art enthusiasts to this historic venue and the inaugural NY Design + Art," said Fair Director Nick Korniloff.

The fair debuts during Frieze Week, one of the busiest and most exciting weeks of the city's 2016 art and cultural season, and will offer all Frieze VIP cardholders complimentary admittance to the fair, as well as a courtesy shuttle service to and from the Frieze Ferry, which is located just 10 blocks away on 35th street. The fair's attendance will benefit from Art Miami's longstanding connection to the international collecting audience. Art Miami was the number one attended fair in America and second globally in 2014, and attracted over 79,000 attendees to its December 2015 show. The NY Design + Art Fair will will run alongside the highly-anticipated second edition of Art New York presented by Art Miami and the Inaugural Edition of CONTEXT New York at Pier 94 (shuttle service will be available to and from Pier 94), in addition to the previews of the Post-War and Contemporary art auctions at the major auction houses.

NY Design + Art will partner with several noteworthy philanthropic organizations with deep roots in design, arts and education, supporting their mission and energizing their efforts. It is a priority of NY Design + Art to be involved with the local community and further arts and design awareness, as well as support and promote new and innovative artistic design talents.
